Move it to Madagascar (Family)
The island of Madagascar is a treasure-trove of amazing creatures both big and small. On this journey we meet sifakas, or "dancing lemurs", as they leap from tree to tree and cross our path in their highly comical dance. A major highlight of our trip is a three-day canoe safari along the pristine Tsiribihina River, in traditional wooden "pirogue" canoes. We float past majestic baobabs, spot varieties of lemurs and birdlife along the riverbanks and gain an insight into rural Malagasy life. We cool off at refreshing waterfalls along the way and set up camp each night along the sandy riverbeds. The reserves of Andranomena and Berenty allow us opportunity to get up close and personal to lemurs, chameleons, butterflies and other amazing creatures of the forest. This tour also provides excellent opportunities to interact with friendly local people and explore thick primeval forests and a visit to the isolated Bay of Lokaro - with its natural swimming holes and beautiful snorkelling beaches is a great place to relax and provides a fitting finale to our Madagascan adventure!
