Explore beautiful colonial cities, Mayan ruins, spectacular volcanoes and colourful Caribbean reefs on this amazing two-week trip

In this fast-paced tour we experience some of Central America's less-visited natural and man-made wonders and soak up the atmosphere of this vibrant and colourful region. The cultural richness of the area is visible in the artisans' homes in colonial Antigua, Leon and Granada and in the small traditional Indian villages which we pass through on the trip. We explore the jungle-cloaked Mayan city of Copan and pass numerous volcanoes, both active and extinct. We visit both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, relaxing on pristine beaches and spending time on Roatan, for amazing diving and snorkelling opportunities on the coral reefs.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Start Antigua Guatemala. 2 Free time to explore the colonial city 3 Enter Honduras and travel to Copan. 4 Morning visit to the Mayan ruins; optional hot springs visit. 5 Walk through tropical botanical gardens at Lancetilla; ferry to Caribbean Island of Roatan. 6-7 Lots of optional activities including scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing and hiking. 8 To Lake Yohoa, Honduras' largest lake; afternoon visit to the 40m high Pulhapanzak Falls. 9 To the border town of Danli. 10 To Leon; explore the colonial city then on to Suyapa Beach on the Pacfic Coast. 11 To Apoyo crater lake; free time to swim and relax. 12 Drive to the rim of Masaya Volcano and see the active crater; ferry to Ometepe Island on Lake Nicaragua. 13 Optional activities including volcano hikes, lake swimming, fishing and waterfall walks. 14 Ferry to mainland; visit artisan market at Masaya; on to colonial city of Granada for city tour. 15 End Granada.
