South America is nothing if not a culture shock, and arriving in Rio we gradually "acclimatise" with a range of excursions, from the fabled Maracana stadium to the famous Sugar Loaf mountain, reached by cablecar - or even with the chance to test your samba skills! Continuing on to Iguacu Falls we can enjoy two included excursions here. First on the Brazilian side of the falls where we will also stop to admire the impressive Itaipu Hydroelectric Plant. The following day there is the option to visit the Argentinean side where we can travel by train, on rafts, by speedboat and finally by army truck through the jungle!

Amazon Rainforest
Flying north to Manaus, we head straight by motor launch into the Amazon and settle in to our comfortable rainforest lodge. We will take jungle walks to spot monkeys, canoe trips through the creeks and backwaters (keep your eyes open for alligators!) and also have a trip to the "meeting of the waters". The more daring of you may also want to take an optional trip by canoe to try piranha fishing! We also hope to visit one of the local tribes that live in the jungle close to our lodge to learn about their way of life.

Beaches, turtles and whales
The final part of this amazing holiday takes us back to the Brazil's beautiful beaches and the small coastal village of Praia do Forte. We will visit the Tamar turtle project that is based here and mother nature permitting, we have the chance to take an optional whale watching excursion. These last few days offer a great chance to relax and unwind after what will certainly be an unforgettable adventure! Itinerary Day 1 Join Rio de Janeiro. 2 In Rio; city tour and cablecar to Sugar Loaf. 3 Fly Iguacu. 4 At Iguacu; visit Brazilian side and Itaipu Dam. 5 Optional full day on Argentinean side. 6 Fly Manaus, boat to jungle lodge. Afternoon walk in monkey jungle. 7 & 8 In the Amazon; canoe and boat trips, jungle walks and visit local community. 9 Excursion to "meeting of the waters". Boat to Manaus. 10 Fly Salvador. Drive Praia do Forte. 11 & 12 In Praia do Forte; visit Tamar turtle project, optional whale watching or Salvador trip. 13 End Praia do Forte.
