Altiplano and Amazon
A month long, jam-packed tour of Peru and Bolivia with unlimited adventure opportunities, from the Amazon jungle to the Andean Altiplano.

Itinerary
Day 1 La Paz
Arrive in La Paz at any time.

Day 2-4 Sucre / Potosi
Transfer to airport with local representative for a flight to Sucre to meet your tour leader. Explore this historic town of museums and colonial buildings. Travel to World Heritage Potosi, the highest in the world and a colonial silver mining centre, where you can still descend into a working mine.

Day 5-9 Uyuni / Salt Flats Excursion (3B,3L,3D)
Journey through the piercing blue skies and white salt flats of the Salar de Uyuni. Spend three days exploring the remote flats by 4X4 vehicles. Night bus/train back to La Paz.

Day 10-11 La Paz
Explore the highest capital city in the world. Options include markets, Tiahuanaco ruins, the Valley of the Moon, or Chacaltaya.

Day 12-14 Puno / Lake Titicaca (B, L, D)
Travel around Lake Titicaca to Puno. Take a boat trip to visit the Uros floating reed islands, explore Taquile Island, and immerse yourself in Peruvian rural life with a homestay in a small village.

Day 15-18 Cuzco / Amazon Jungle (2B,2L,2D)
Enjoy spectacular views as we travel through the high Altiplano to colonial Cuzco. Fly to Puerto Maldonado. Travel by motorized canoe to the Tambopata Rainforest Area, and explore the jungle with our local guides. Return to Cuzco on day 18.

Day 19 Ollantaytambo
Travel through the Sacred Valley to Pisac and the picturesque town and Inca ruins of Ollantaytambo.

Day 20-23 Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (3B,3L,3D)
Begin a once in a lifetime journey on the ancient trail of the Incas. Porters and guides ensure that the trip is worry-free, and ruins and spectacular scenery fill each day. On the final day watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Return to Cuzco on the afternoon of day 23.

Day 24 Arequipa
Fly from Cuzco to Peru's second largest city. Colonial Arequipa is surrounded by the Andes and lies in the shadow of El Misti Volcano.

Day 25-27 Colca Canyon / Arequipa
Spend two days exploring the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the world and home to the majestic Andean Condor. Return to Arequipa for an evening out before the night bus to Nazca.

Day 28-29 Nazca / Pisco
Take an optional flight over the mysterious Nazca Lines, then tour a Pre-Incan cemetery. Travel along the coast to Pisco, and enjoy the city's renowned local cocktail, the Pisco Sour.

Day 30 Lima
Take an optional excursion to the Ballestas Islands, site of a lively sea lion colony and a variety of bird life. Arrive in Lima by late afternoon.

Day 31 Depart Lima
Accommodation
Simple hotels (some nights may be multi-share) (22 nts), buses (2 nts), homestay (1 nt), camping (3 nts), jungle lodge (2 nts).

1. Last-minute bookings of this trip and all trips that include the Inca Trail will be on an "on request" basis only. To make a booking request of a tour which includes the Inca Trail, G.A.P Adventures requires your full name, date of birth, nationality and passport number.

2. Please advise at time of booking if you do not wish to hike the Inca Trail. Instead you will have 2 nights in Cuzco, travel by train for a night in Aguas Calientes, and join the hikers for the tour of Machu Picchu.
